Fayuca Throws A Hell Of A Cinco Party

Posted by on May 7, 2012 in Artist News, New Releases, News!, Tours | 0 comments

Gabriel, Raf, Cisco and special guests tore up the Crescent Ballroom Saturday night for Cinco de Mayo 2012.  With a keyboard player in the mix and two horns who were singing harmonies and playing percussion between riffs, a right-good celebration unleashed with Fervor’s Latin Reggae Punk-Core Trio at the helm.

Support acts Kommon Measure and Cesar Chavez Duran with the youthful Mariachi Fuego Del Sol (complete with their traditional fringed black and white attire) built up the festive flavor and got the crowd more than ready to rock out for Fayuca’s grande entrance.

Fayuca opened with new Spanish love song Sigo Amandote, then seamlessly ripped into an intense punk rock tune, before settling into a deep space dub jam..all within the first 6 minutes of the show.  The band is known for their eclectic spectrum of styles and managed to hit them all in the beginning, like an overture to the rest of the evening.

Part way through the set, drummer Raf was deserted in the spotlight as he powered his way through an impressive solo.  Crowd members were clamoring for photos in the pit, trying to capture Raf’s lone stylings.  As he held it down, two young emcees took the stage and set up their mics.  Before the audience knew it, they were witnessing an impromptu performance by an entirely different group, Raf’s side project Money Dash.  Wow!  After a sweet mini-set, the rappers gracefully exited and the rest of the band returned, all still within the epic drum solo span.

After a couple party tunes, the special guests took to the wings and left only the three core Fayuca members in a warm mellow glow front and center.  Raf sat on his cajon (single box drum) while Gabe and Cisco settled into some comfy chairs and put their feet up for a tender acoustic set.  The crowd adored the intimate moment, making everyone feel like they were in someone’s living room.

Then it was time to get back to party mode and Fayuca led the way with some more ska-punk anthems.  The audience gathered, fist-pumped and shouted requests at the trio in hopes of hearing their faves before the night concluded.  Frontman Gabriel Solorzano obliged and did a song all by his lonesome.  It only took one verse and one chorus before the entire ensemble could no longer resist joining in.  The crowd went nuts and carried the energy all the way to the end of the night, three encores later.

The show seemed to go on for a long time, and fans stuck with it til the final moments.  No one was in any hurry to go anywhere.  When it was finally over, everyone rushed the merch booth in an effort to secure the hot new owl tees from Fayuca/Noctis Threads.  Here’s Haley the merchmistress, who held down the fort all night.

Overall, a good time was had by all.  Fayuca fans were there in droves and probably would’ve partied right there on the dance floor til sunrise if the venue didn’t have to close up shop.

Super Stereo Returns From Hiatus With New Songs

Crescent Ballroom Hosts Super Stereo, Snake! Snake! Snakes!

Scottsdale, AZ 5/3/12– Valley-based indie dance act Super Stereo has been on hiatus for the first half of 2012, after a dynamite debut year. Ready to dust off the live sound gear and get back on stage, theyʼve got a big batch of new songs to share and are doing in style at Phoenixʼs premiere venue, The Crescent Ballroom on Saturday June 9th with colleagues Snake! Snake! Snakes!, TABS, and Factories.

Upon signing a deal with Fervor Records, the band released an introductory album titled This Is Futurepop. The label sent them to NYC to make a slick video for the single “Life Passed Me By”, which was then picked up by MTV networks and spent 24 weeks in the top ten on MTVU.com.  As of today, their vid has seen nearly 117,000 hits on MTV.com alone and regularly broadcasts in bars, clubs, bowling alleys, department stores and other retail spots across the USA.

Last year, tracks from Super Stereoʼs full length album appeared in many hit TV shows, including Bones (Fox), The Real L Word (Showtime), Rizzoli & Isles (TNT), Keeping Up With The Kardashians (E!), and multiple episodes of hipster favorite Parks & Recreation (NBC). So far in 2012, theyʼve made it into several editions of Access Hollywood (NBC), Kourtney and Kim Take New York (E!), and The Set Up Squad (Logo).

Technically, the 5-piece electropop act emerged from their creative break a couple weeks ago when they opened for Vanessa Carlton on the main stage at the Phoenix Pride Festival. But the upcoming June performance will mark the official ʻrelaunchʼ with an accessible nightclub show that they are offering to fans for a meager $5 entrance fee.

Joining them will be emerging national act Snake! Snake! Snakes!, whoʼve been getting a steady buzz on college radio across the country and were recently mentioned by Paste Magazine as ʻa band to watchʼ from Phoenix.  Also on the bill are Factories, who were handpicked by the New Times music editors as an ideal candidate to share a night with Super Stereo in a blog post earlier this week.

The Crescent Ballroom is located in the heart of downtown Phoenix at 308 N. Second Avenue and features a menu by renowned chefs Chris Bianco (Pizzeria Bianco) and Doug Robson (Gallo Blanco).    The event, which is scheduled for Saturday June 9th is strictly 21+.  Doors open at 7:30 and tickets are available online for $5.

Yab Yum Reviews Coloratura CD Release Party (Anna Vivette)

Posted by on May 1, 2012 in Artist News, New Releases, News!, Tours | 0 comments

Phoenix-based and local economy promoting Yab Yum Magazine celebrates ‘art and music as a means to enlightenment’.  As it turns out, they find the new Fervor release Coloratura (Anna Vivette) to be on par with those ideals.

Last week, head editor Carly Schorman was on site for the big debut inside Scottsdale’s contemporary art space, the SMoCA lounge and a few nice things to say about it.

She describes the event as ‘otherworldly’ and cites the unexpectedly engaging opera element of the performance as a big part of it, along with the uber chic interior design of the venue (which is actually an art installation unto itself).

Check out the entire May issue here- and notice Fervor gets more than one shout out this time (Fayuca review included!)…
